Once you’re done, test your drive if it still ejects different kinds of discs. Keep on inserting it until it is accepted and let it run its cleaning process.
Don’t worry if it is also ejected during the first try. All you have to do is insert it into your drive. The CD/DVD drive cleaner also comes in disc form. Usually, the problem is caused by some dirt and dust on the laser that reads the disc. This is quite easy to find in electronics stores and they are quite cheap. If the same thing happens, then that means the drive is really the problem. Observe if there is a difference in how the drive reacts to the new disk. Get another clean disk and try inserting it into the drive. If it takes more than 10 seconds or up to 30 seconds before ejecting, then this means all hope is not yet lost and your drive may still be salvageable. Then observe how many seconds it takes for the drive to eject the disc. Check if the drive actually reads the disc you will know by the sound that it makes. Once you’re sure of the quality and cleanliness of your disk, insert it into the drive. Make sure it is clean sometimes, the problem lies in your disk, not your drive. Before inserting a disk, check it first for scratches or dust. This error is quite serious, but you may still be able to revive your Mac.įirst, do a simple diagnosis procedure to see how serious the problem is. There is still one possible fix that you can try.
It’s not the end of the world for your Mac, despite the disk ejection error. When they insert a CD or DVD into their Mac, the drive just keeps on ejecting it.

I will definitely instruct Preferences to show these items on the screen: CDs, DVDs, and iPods (I don't have an iPod, but maybe my iPad and iPhone should they be plugged in, although I usually attach them to the new iMac desktop computer). Is your Mac ejecting disks for seemingly no reason? A lot of Mac users have experienced this problem. However, I just powered it off to begin the eject process.

I do not know how to precipitate the "reboot" since my MBP usually just goes to sleep when I close the lid, and shows my login as well as a nonexistent "Guest" beside it when it wakes up. I do not know anything about Single-user Mode (I'll research it), but I am the only user of the notebook and would prefer to keep it in Single-user Mode. I'll also try the Terminal by entering the text at the prompt. I think I can try the COMMAND-E no problem.ĥ.
I will check again after I restart the notebookĤ. In the menubar of the Finder window, the EJECT was grayed out. The keyboard of my MBP has no key designated for EJECT.ģ. Maybe someone knows a quick-fix (wishful thinking I know) Erm. of course I just bought a printer & find I can't insert the installation disc, nor ant CDs or DVDs. I have the following stumbling blocks to consider:ġ. The last time it worked, I watched a DVD and I ejected it by clicking the eject option that's visible w/the DVD Player (contrasted to physically pressing the eject next to F12). Kappy, I appreciate all the ways you suggest. I'm a recent convert to Apple computing products, from Windows, so I need basic plain directions. I'm not on it now, but will open it to follow help suggestions. My MacBookPro is retina display, i7, 15" running ElCapitan, it is a mid 2015 model I think. I've logged out, signed back in, and it still has not cleared out my instruction to ignore. Now I sit here with a brand new USB Super Drive with a blank CD stuck in it and am being totally IGNORED, as I requested, but what did I know when I asked for it to ignore me. And, the EJECT text on the menu bar was grayed out. As a result, there was NO ICON ON THE DESKTOP for this drive. Instead it presented another option, which was to IGNORE. I inserted a blank DVD and it wanted me to tell it what to record but I did not want to record.
Then, I wanted to see if it could record. Then I ejected it by clicking the drive icon shown on the desktop, because I was just testing how it connected etc.

I put in a recorded movie DVD and was able to begin play. Last night I unboxed my new USB Super Drive and attached it to my MacBookPro.
